Exeter Hospital ER reopens Saturday afternoon

EXETER, N.H. — After a precautionary evacuation Friday, Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire reopened its emergency department Saturday afternoon, officials told Boston 25 News.

"Following an extensive contracted professional cleaning of both the Emergency Department and the In Patient OR, Exeter Hospital is now conducting its own cleaning of both areas with the goal of re-opening the ED at some point this afternoon and the OR on Monday morning for its regular schedule," hospital staff wrote on Facebook. "Information regarding exact times will follow later today."

Exeter Hospital was evacuated Friday morning and several staff members were treated a mysterious illness sickened nearly 20 staff members.

The ordeal began around 9 a.m. with workers in the operating room feeling very sick. Firefighters said there was no liquid spilled, no odor of gas, just several people becoming nauseous within a short period of time.

Several rounds of tests Friday afternoon and evening were unable to pinpoint the cause.
