BOSTON — It's that weekend. Leases are up and people are moving out, thousands of college students are moving in and on top of all the moving trucks, there are a plethora of parking restrictions across the city.
Many call it "Allston Christmas." It happens every year when the turnover happens and many who are moving out will leave whatever they don't want behind on the sidewalk, there for the taking.
Just beware that city officials will be out in full force ticketing illegal garbage piles and also letting students know their rights as tenants.
MOVING DAY: A guide to moving on Sept. 1 in Boston and surrounding areas
Some students Boston 25 News spoke with said they'll spend the day moving into their new homes and then go looking for furniture and appliances they can find for free.

Those with moving trucks had to reserve a parking spot and those driving a truck are reminded not to go on Storrow Drive. People heeded the warning on Friday and thankfully, no trucks were "Storrowed." It will be a busy day throughout the city so expect to sit in some delays during one of the most wonderful days of the year (the good news: cooler temperatures today for all the lugging and treasure hunting).
