Wynn Resorts adds three women to board of directors

BOSTON — Wynn Resorts has expanded its board of directors, adding three new members, including two with ties to Massachusetts.

The company announced Wednesday night it added three women to the board: Deedee Myers, Wendy Webb and Betsy Atkins.

Webb is a graduate of Smith College and Harvard University, while Atkins graduated from UMass Amherst.

More than a third of the board is now women.

The company has been at the center of controversy since sexual misconduct allegations were made against Steve Wynn, who has since stepped down from his role with the company and sold his ownership shares.

Wynn resorts is building a hotel and casino in Everett.

That project is continuing on an "at-risk basis" as the state's gaming commission investigates the allegations against Wynn.

The company says the changes to its board will usher in a "new era."

Wynn's ex-wife, who is the company's largest shareholder, wanted an overhaul to the board before any other changes were made.

Wynn resorts has reportedly been in talks to sell its Everett casino to MGM.
